More and more women are traveling by themselves, with a small child or along with another female friend. In such circumstances it is often desirable to travel to a place that feels safe and female friendly.
At Hedonisia Hawaii Hostel we offer affordable eco-lodgings for female travelers. The area of Hawaii that we are located in is called Puna. It is like San Francisco in the tropics. Many communes and alternative healers. Many Yoga retreats and centers. The New Age is definitely over here!
Because our hostel is small people get to know each other very quickly and on a much deeper level than in some of the larger hostels such as those in busy Waikiki.
The Volunteers who stay here often know where the best parties and other social events are happening. And there is usually someone to go with for a quick swim in the volcanic heated Kapoho Warms Ponds. So a female traveler can arrive here with a friend or alone and be assured of safety, privacy, security and friendly people!
Our Hostel is called Hedonisia and it is a very social place. Dating happens a lot! However, we do not tolerate sexual harassment. Most Hedonisia accomodations offer a fair amount of privacy, so that you are able to retreat into your own space if needed.
Hedonisia Hawaii is an Eco-Hostel. We strive to promote environmentally friendly policies in our few acres of Hawaiian Paradise. However, our activism does not stop there. In addition to running the hostel Hedonisia Hawaii is also very active in promoting womens causes on the internet. We have created and maintain a number of socially progressive activist websites in the following areas:
- Natural Abortion & Reproductive Choice for Women around the world (Warning! This is a Pro-Choice website)
- Eco-Sensual Natural Birth Control for Women
- Feminism and Female Sexuality in Muslim Cultures (part of the World Art Erotica Virtual Museum)
- A New Sexual Revolution for Women & Men (book and website in progress)
- Web Designer - Must be proficient in any of the following: Web Design or at least basic HTML; Creating Online Interactive Email Forms, Javascript, Flash, Dreamweaver, Search Engine Optimization, Website Promotion or any other advanced skills in website creation and maintenance. We are especially looking for database programmers with a proficiency in PHP. Must have people skills as training is part of job requirement so we or other staff members can continue to maintain any web work that is done.
- Online Database Designer - Using PHP Script. We are looking for programmers who can create, update or maintain online databases and/or do reports and database analysis.
- Writer/Researcher - (This job is ideal for a Liberal Arts Major Student!) - We need writers and/or web researchers for two book projects and three websites we are working on. Must have good interviewing and listening skills and deep interest in any of the following: travel, feminism, religion in the world, culture and the changing nature of families and relationships. Liberal Arts Students with majors in either International Politics, Sociology, Psychology, Family Studies, Religion, Humanities, Women's Studies are welcome. Previous writing and editing experience a plus.
