Name: Corn- Golden Bantam

Country of Origin: Mexican plateaus and Guatemala highlands

Uses: A staple food source for many cultures. Can be used in breads, tortillas, dishes, salads or eaten straight of the cob. Corn is actually a member of the grass family. It meant survival for English settlers arriving in America.

Growing Tips: Likes warmer temperatures. Rows should be at least 3 feet (1 m) apart, and each plant should be a minimum of 9 inches (23 cm) apart. Seeds 1' deep. Plant corn in a close cluster so cross pollination is possible. Corn needs fertilizing most when forming

Harvest Time:Three weeks after corn silks appear on the ears, carefully pull back part of the husk and pierce a kernel with your thumbnail. If the liquid that comes out is milky white, the sweet corn is ripe and ready to eat.
