Name of Plant: Summer Squash

Country of Origin: Mexico and Central America.

Uses: A delicious vegetable that can be used in a wide range of dishes!

Growing Tips: Full Sun. Grows quickly, especially in hot weather Large and bushy, these types of plants do not spread as the vine types do Loosen the soil to a depth of 12 to 18 inches by turning it with a spade. Remove stones and rocks and mix in generous amounts of peat, compost, bagged manure or organic potting soil. Plant seeds about 1 inch deep, in hills 3 to 4 feet apart. OR 3 to 4 weeks prior to the planting date, start seeds in pots 3 to 4 seeds per pot.

Harvest Time:Generally 45 - 65 days. Check daily when harvesting. They should be gathered before the seeds have fully ripened and while the rinds are still soft.
