Hedonisia Hawaii Sustainable Community Rainforest Retreat
Community Support Day
Hedonisia Hawaii is a community of independent Volunteers and Guests. We are NOT a traditional tourist establishment so our guidelines and policies are a little different!
This is especially true for long term guests or workshop participants who are staying for a month or longer.
ALL Guests, Workshop participants who are staying a month or more and are expected to complete one Community Support day per week. This usually consists of a cleaning/weeding shift of 3 hours. However, we are also open to project suggestions from long term guests. For example, someone who is a carpenter might suggest a wood working project for their community support day.
The Community Support Day for monthly Guests has been a great success. Before Guests sometimes got a little disconnected from the rest of the community especially during volunteer work hours. Now, they get to feel a part of the community with one workshift per week. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
Many Eco-tourists actually want to do something whilst on holiday and having only one workshift a week gives them a great way to contribute to the community.
However, some Guests may not want to work at all during the time they are here and we understand that. A Community Support shift is valued at $20 for a single person or $25 for couples.
So for long term Guests who do not want to do a cleaning shift per week they can pay for 4 Community Support Days for $80 ($100 couples) extra for the month. Then they can completely relax into the soothing lush jungle of Hedonisia!
