Fair-Trade Volunteer Positions

We have divided our Volunteer jobs into Body, Brain and Heart! This allows you an interesting way to choose the jobs you like or have experience with. You will probably end up doing a variety of volunteer jobs. However, we do try to match Volunteers with the work they desire!

Work with your BODY!

Volunteer jobs for those who like physical work:

Housekeeping: Kitchen & Bathroom - General Household duties for the Jungle Cottage, the Barn or for the Guest Accommodations. Light Household cleaning duties (vacuuming, dishwashing, cleaning, laundry)

Organic Gardening & Weeding - We are weeding the invasive species and then replacing them with lush flowers, plants, fruits and trees.

Sewing/Patching - Proficiency with hand sewing or using a sewing machine. We reuse broken tents by sewing them together into patchwork quilts for colorful tent windows, walls and doors.

Landscaping & Trail Building - If you like working with a machete, a shovel, a pickaxe or a chainsaw or weedwacker then you will love our volcanic jungle landscape!

Eco-Building - We use recycled or locally grown material for repair and building projects on the property.

Painting - For those of you who find it soothing to paint, we have projects for you!

Eco-Friendly Vehicle Mechanic - Must have a good working mechanical knowledge or be able to do basic repairs. Car detailing also needed on a periodic basis.

School Bus Driver or Bus Mechanic - One of our lodgings is a converted School Bus now called the Aloha Bus. Hedonisia is located in a high volcanic lava risk area so our bus is kept maintained as our Volcano Evacuation Vehicle should the lava ever decide to come our way!

Garden Tool Maintenance & Repairs - A Jack-(or Jill!)-of-all-Trades who can maintain tools or equipment such as weed wackers, chain saw or be able to restore and repair some of our hand tools such as shovels etc

Hedonisia Botanical Plant Inventory Editor - We are slowly creating an inventory with photographs of all the plants on the property; researching all the plants on the property!

Work with your HEART!

We tried to make this category for those types of jobs that are a bit more on the creative side. However, all our jobs overlap with Heart, Body and Brain!

Mural Artist/Creative Painter - Hedonisia is filled with sensual and quirky murals and art creations located throughout the property. Any artist who would like to submit examples of their work can do part of their Volunteer Activities doing agreed upon mural or other artistic projects on the property.

Wood Carver - We have scavenged a number of Ohia logs that were felled by the previous owner of the property. These native Hawaiian hardwood trees are perfect for carving.

Massage Therapists, Bodyworkers or Personal Fitness Trainer - Body workers or Personal Trainers may practice their specialty for at least one day of the week as their Volunteer work. A Volunteer Masseuse will be working on the Managers, Guests and the "Volunteer-of-the-Week" at Hedonisia.

Carpenter - For repairing, improving and building small carpentry projects and custom furniture. If you like to work with bamboo or recycled materials then we definitely have projects for you!
